Shillong: Shillong police launched a Quick Response Team this Tuesday to tighten security across the city. Recent safety concerns triggered the move. Officials confirmed the specialized unit will handle surveillance and emergency operations to keep the streets secure.
The department is also mapping existing CCTV cameras in various neighborhoods. This technical upgrade aims to speed up police response times when incidents occur. Officers intend to focus these resources on vulnerable areas throughout Shillong.
Police have requested one additional company of the Central Reserve Police Force to boost manpower. Sources said these measures are aimed at "strengthening surveillance and improving the police response" as the city grapples with rising security threats.
