Imphal: Manipur Police launched a series of raids on July 23, nabbing three militants and a suspected drug trafficker. The operations targeted banned outfits across Bishnupur, Imphal East, Thoubal, and Imphal West districts.
Police caught Mayanglambam Tomba Singh, a 39-year-old KYKL cadre from the Phubala Relief Camp, at the Tera Urak checkpoint. Officers found a 9mm pistol and 11 rounds of ammunition on him. Investigators linked Singh to the January 8, 2026, bomb blast at the MS Elidas Fuel Station on Moirang-Kumbi Road. No one died in that explosion. Following Singh's interrogation, forces raided an area near Sangaithel Park. They seized a massive haul: eight pistols, four rifles, three grenades, three detonators, magazines, bulletproof jackets, and wireless sets.
Security forces also grabbed S Palal Kuki in Molnom. He served as the finance head for the banned United Kuki National Army. Police accuse him of involvement in multiple firing and extortion cases. In a separate bust, officers arrested Gurumayum Khugamani Sharma on Wangkhei Ayangpali Road. The 37-year-old active KCP cadre is accused of extortion.
Anti-narcotics efforts saw police arrest 30-year-old Mrs Leila in Lilong Bazar. Officers found 389 grams of heroin hidden in 10 soap cases. Regarding the ongoing investigations, police stated, "The arrested individual and the seized items have been handed over to the respective police stations for further legal proceedings."
