Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma started a two-day trip to Tinsukia today. He plans to review infrastructure progress and launch new municipal initiatives across the district. Tinsukia sits about 500 km east of Guwahati. It has seen a major shift from its past. The area once dealt with constant militancy. Now, it serves as a growing hub for trade and community connection.
Sarma intends to roll out several urban projects during his stay. These include new public parks, a playground, and the cleanup of local water bodies. He is also introducing a mobile app to streamline municipal services. Tinsukia recently earned praise for its strong showing in Swachh Survekshan cleanliness surveys.
The chief minister will spend his second day inspecting construction sites. He is checking the status of a 1,000-seat auditorium and an inter-state bus terminus. He also plans to scout the location for a future medical college. This facility aims to provide better healthcare for both local residents and neighbors in Arunachal Pradesh.
Sarma will inaugurate an autoclaved aerated concrete blocks manufacturing plant. This project aims to spark local job growth. He will wrap up his trip at the Moran Sports Carnival. Throughout the visit, he plans to talk with locals to hear their thoughts on current state policies. Reflecting on the district's turnaround, Sarma said, "A region affected by violence is now a region ushering in development."
