Guwahati: IndiGo kicked off direct flight service between Guwahati and Bangkok on October 27. The move links Northeast India directly to the Thai capital. Airport officials and airline representatives gathered at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport for a ceremonial lamp lighting and boarding pass handover. This service aims to push Guwahati as a regional hub for tourism and trade.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma pushed the launch as a win for the Act East policy. He stated the new route is a, "step towards expanding global connectivity and strengthening Guwahati’s position as a travel and tourism hub." The connection serves as a gateway to Southeast Asia for the entire region.
The maiden flight, 6E 1085, leaves Guwahati at 6.15 pm and lands in Bangkok at 10.45 pm local time. The return flight, 6E 1086, departs Bangkok at 8.50 am and touches down in Guwahati at 10.25 am. Starting October 31, regular flights will operate every Wednesday and Saturday. Adani Airport Holdings Limited manages the facility. The airport now serves five international destinations and 24 domestic locations. Separately, the bamboo-inspired Terminal 2 at the airport recently earned a spot on the Prix Versailles World’s Most Beautiful Airports List 2026.
