Assam Government Shuffles Forest Department Leadership

Guwahati: The Assam government overhauled its forest department staff on October 27. Kadam Suhas Tarachand, a 2014-batch Indian Forest Service officer, takes charge of the Manas National Park and Tiger Reserve. He steps in as Deputy Director and in-charge Field Director. Tarachand moves from his previous role as Divisional Forest Officer of the Nagaon Division.

The department notification relieves Sonali Ghosh of her extra duties as Field Director at Manas. Ghosh remains the Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests. T. Sheshidhar Reddy, the 2020-batch officer formerly in charge at Manas, now moves to the Goalpara Division. He replaces Tejas Mariswamy, who shifts to Jorhat. Mariswamy will serve as Deputy Conservator of Forests and in-charge Conservator of Forests for the Eastern Assam Circle.

Other shifts impact regional management across the state. Subodh Talukder leaves Kamrup West to become Planning Officer-II under the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests. Ashok Deb Choudhury takes over the Kamrup West Division while keeping his current oversight of Kamrup East. Biswajyoti Das adds the Nagaon Division to his existing workload in Sonitpur West. The order notes these changes take effect "from the dates the officers assume their respective charges" and stay active until further notice.
