IndiGo Plans Expanded Flight Routes for Itanagar

Itanagar: IndiGo plans to ramp up air travel between Itanagar and Guwahati starting October 10. The Arunachal Chamber of Commerce and Industries confirmed the news following talks with the airline's Eastern Region authorities. The move aims to connect the Donyi Polo Airport in Hollongi to major hubs like Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bhubaneswar, Lucknow, Jaipur, and Ahmedabad.

Flight frequency starts at six days a week. It hits daily service by October 25. The airline has not released a final operational schedule yet. All routes and timings remain subject to change based on commercial needs. ACCI President Dr. Tarh Nachung believes the expansion serves a wide range of travelers. "The proposed expansion would make travel more convenient for business travellers, students, tourists, government officials and professionals while improving access between Arunachal Pradesh and key metropolitan and commercial centres of the country," he stated.

Local leaders pushed for the change. Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, and MPs Tapir Gao and Tai Tagak provided support. Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and Civil Aviation Minister Balo Raja also backed the effort. The chamber says the new flights will bolster trade, investment, and tourism across the state.
