Guwahati: Railway workers pulled three teenage girls from Platform Number 4 at Guwahati Railway Station this Sunday, October 25. The rescue occurred during Operation Nanhe Farishte. Sub-Inspector R.K. Dubey led the team from the Crime Prevention and Detection Squad alongside station staff.
The girls came from Looholiya, located in the Charaideo district of Assam. They fall under the jurisdiction of the Borhat Police Station. Authorities identified the group as 16-year-old Baby Paul and 15-year-old Priya Paul, both children of Bibhash Paul, and 17-year-old Riya Paul, the daughter of Bidyut Paul. The trio left home without notifying their parents, intending to sightsee in Guwahati.
The girls admitted their intentions during initial questioning. Railway personnel completed all legal paperwork before moving the minors to the Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee in Kamrup Metro. "The initiative seeks to ensure that vulnerable children found on railway premises receive appropriate assistance and are referred to the relevant child welfare authorities," officials stated regarding the mission of Operation Nanhe Farishte.
Railway Childline Guwahati oversaw the transfer to ensure the teenagers remained in safe custody. The operation continues its focus on identifying vulnerable youths across transit hubs.
