Guwahati: Guwahati is hosting the Shilp Samagam Mela 2026 at Farm Gate, Khanapara. The event runs from 21 to 28 October 2026. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment organized the fair to showcase local goods. Artisans from across India will gather here.
A total of 75 artisans, including 31 women, will sell their wares. They plan to show 40 different types of handloom and handicraft products. This event helps them connect with new customers and grow their businesses. The ministry aims to provide better marketing support for workers tied to three specific groups: the National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation, the National Safai Karamcharis Finance and Development Corporation, and the National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation.
These fairs target people from Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes, and Safai Karamcharis. Officials see the event as a way to promote the "skills, products and entrepreneurial potential of artisans" within these groups. Organizers will also provide information on financial help and welfare schemes throughout the week.
Visitors can explore traditional crafts from the North-East and beyond. The fair also highlights the BHARAT-TULIP initiative. This program moves goods through physical shops and online stores to help preserve traditional arts.
