Guwahati: Two young children were found wandering alone and intoxicated in the Tarapur area of Silchar around 1 am. Video journalist Zakir Hussain spotted the pair, a four-year-old girl and a boy estimated to be four or five years old, roaming the streets in the dead of night. He alerted social worker Subir Dhar to the situation immediately.

Dhar reached out to the Tarapur Police for help. Authorities arrived and rescued the children, moving them away from the dangers of the street. By 3 am, the children were safely in the hands of child welfare authorities for care and protection.

Officials still have no idea how the children ended up in Tarapur or who their parents are. The investigation is ongoing. "The concerned authorities are taking necessary steps to establish the children's identities and locate their family." Officials are working to trace the children's relatives as the case remains active.
