Silchar Man Drugged and Robbed After Giving Stranger a Lift

Guwahati: Dilwar Hussain Laskar faces a nightmare. The Gangpar resident offered a ride to a stranger in Silchar and lost everything. Laskar was riding his scooter toward Tarapur when an unidentified youth flagged him down in the Nazirpatty area. The stranger requested a lift to Jail Road. Laskar obliged.

The pair stopped to eat chow mein upon reaching their destination. The stranger then handed Laskar a cold drink. Laskar drank it. He fell ill almost immediately. The youth waited for the substance to take effect. He seized Laskar’s mobile phone, wallet, and cash. The thief took the scooter keys and left the victim stranded in Panchgram.

Laskar eventually caught an autorickshaw ride back to Silchar. He contacted his family and sought treatment at a private hospital. He officially reported the incident at the Silchar Sadar Police Station. The victim stated, "Laskar has demanded the identification and arrest of the accused and strict punishment if the allegations are established."

Authorities have not yet confirmed if the beverage contained any intoxicating substances. Police are currently investigating the theft. No further details are available at this time.
