Guwahati: Tension flared in the Premtala area of Silchar on Sunday, September 20, as members of the Bajrang Dal targeted the Ray Unisex Spa Parlour. The group alleged that a sex racket operated out of a room behind the business. They claimed they caught a man and a woman in an objectionable situation. The man bolted from the scene. The vigilantes held the woman and reported vandalism at the site.
A parlour employee told investigators that a room was rented for Rs 1,000. He insisted he did not know what the pair planned to do behind closed doors. Bajrang Dal members claimed they recovered objectionable items. They demanded answers about how such operations continue in a busy area like Premtala despite ongoing police crackdowns across the Barak Valley.
Personnel from the Silchar Sadar Police Station arrived to disperse the crowd and restore order. Officers took the woman and the spa employee into custody for questioning. Authorities have not confirmed the sex racket allegations. The investigation remains active. A department spokesperson stated, "The nature of the activities taking place at the premises, along with the identities and roles of those involved, will be determined through the police investigation." Police are currently verifying the claims made by the vigilante group.
