Guwahati: Tension boiled over at Kathal Point in Silchar after residents cornered a man accused of local theft. The suspect spent two hours submerged in stagnant water beneath the Adhi TVS Showroom parking lot to dodge a midnight search. He stayed hidden. A string of robberies over the past three days had put the neighborhood on edge, prompting residents to monitor the streets closely.

The search party started around midnight on October 10 after CCTV cameras recorded a suspicious individual. Locals combed the area for hours before calling in backup. Police arrived and flushed the man out of his watery hiding spot at 2 am. Authorities took him into custody immediately.

Investigators are now working to link the man to the recent rash of crimes. According to local sources, the suspect's involvement remains unconfirmed. "The allegations against the youth have not yet been independently confirmed." Police continue to review footage and evidence to determine if the man is the same person captured on camera.
