Guwahati: Tinsukia police swept through the town on Thursday. They detained more than 22 suspects in a massive operation. Tinsukia Sadar police worked with Hijuguri officers to pull the suspects off the streets. Several stolen items turned up at different locations during the raid.

The crackdown follows a string of theft reports plaguing the area. Two bodies found within the last 48 hours forced police to escalate their investigation. The suspects remain in custody for questioning. Authorities suspect some detainees use drugs, but they warned that substance use does not automatically confirm criminal guilt. Police official sources said, "Preliminary information suggests that some of them may be linked to substance abuse."

Locals keep reporting spikes in snatching and theft. Residents often link the surge in crime to youth struggling with addiction, pointing to the misuse of products like Dendrite. People in the town are now pushing for more regular patrols. They want authorities to act fast to stop the cycle of theft and drug-related incidents.
