Guwahati: Sreemanta Nagar police busted a theft ring this week. Officers hauled in two men after finding a stash of stolen property hidden in a Loharpara shop. The investigation kicked off when police detained Uttam Shabdhakar from Chandbari. He allegedly fingered a local business as the fence for his stolen loot.

Police raided Zubair Ahmed’s shop on Thursday night. They found a haul of gear, including a motorcycle fuel tank, fan coils, fan blades, bowls for religious rituals, glass items, and motorcycle tyres. Authorities seized the lot and took it back to the Sreemanta Nagar Sadar Police Station.

Officers arrested both Shabdhakar and the shop owner, Ahmed. The charges against Ahmed stem from accusations that he was buying stolen property. Police are digging into the case to find the origin of the items. "Police are continuing their investigation to determine the source of the stolen goods and whether other people were involved in the theft and sale of the items," the department stated. Investigators want to know if more crooks helped move the goods.
