Guwahati: Cachar police arrested 55-year-old Satyapal Singh for stealing equipment from a mechanical firm. Singh, a former Border Security Force member and son of late Ram Singh, hails from Rajasthan. He lived in the Labour Line area of Banskandi while working as a guard at SR Group.

The business sits in Lakhigram under the Udharbond police station. Singh allegedly made off with iron tools, iron rods, and an impact drilling machine. The stolen goods reached a total value of 60,000 rupees. The company owner, Sumit Roy, caught onto the pattern and filed a written complaint with local authorities.

Udharbond police moved fast. Station in-charge Chiranjit Kumar Bara and Assistant Sub-Inspector Uttam Kumar Roy led the team that cuffed the suspect. The department is still working the case. Officers say, "Further investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged theft and ascertain other details of the case."
