Guwahati: Moran police arrested Nabajit Handique, 45, on charges of sending lewd messages to five minor boys. Handique is a former member of the Border Security Force from Tilaibari Nepali Gaon. He is now behind bars. The arrest followed a formal complaint filed by the families of the victims, who are students in the 7th and 8th grades.
The parents claim Handique lured the boys to his residence over the last two to three months. He reportedly used iPhones and other gifts to entice the students. Families discovered the behavior recently and took the evidence to the Moran Police Station. Authorities registered case number 69/26 against the suspect.
Police booked Handique under Section 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. Locals remain on edge following the discovery of the alleged crimes. Families are demanding swift justice. A spokesperson confirmed that the "allegations are under investigation." Officers are currently digging into the extent of the contact between the former soldier and the children.
