Guwahati: Juria police arrested Nabi Hussain for allegedly doctoring photos and videos of a local woman. Hussain, a resident of Shingari village, now sits in custody. He faces charges after the woman filed an official report seeking justice for the online harassment.
Hussain allegedly circulated the altered images through his Facebook account. He did not stop there. He plastered posters featuring these images across markets and villages in the Nagaon district. The posters even carried a reward of Rs 50,000 for information about the victim. This move sparked outrage among local residents who demanded immediate action.
Officers captured Hussain during a late-night operation in Amni. The suspect remains under questioning. Investigators are now scrutinizing the seized posters and digital files. Police want to know if others helped the man produce or distribute the content. The case highlights a growing problem with digital defamation in the region. Juria Police confirmed the arrest, stating the woman approached them after her photographs and videos had been "edited and circulated on social media."
