Six Injured After Rival Butchers Clash in Assam

Guwahati: Six men are recovering in the hospital after a brutal fight between rival butchers in Udumari Balugutiya. The brawl broke out in the Juria area of Assam’s Nagaon district. Tensions peaked when two groups fought over beef sales and aggressive customer poaching. Three of the injured remain in critical condition at the Nagaon Medical College and Hospital.

Locals pointed fingers at illegal operations. Reports indicate roughly 20 slaughterhouses function openly at road junctions despite government bans. "The circumstances surrounding the late-night clash remain unclear," police officials stated. Investigators are now looking into why these businesses continue to thrive in the area.

Both sides filed separate complaints at the Juria Police Station. Locals allege that the shops survive because of a clandestine understanding with law enforcement. Police are digging into the motive to see if the customer dispute was the only cause for the violence or if deeper issues exist.
