Guwahati: A truck driver and his handyman attacked four police officers inside the Samaguri Police Station in Nagaon, Assam, late Sunday night. The assault left all four officers injured. They were taken to a local hospital, where doctors report they remain in stable condition.

Trouble started around 11 p.m. when the truck rammed into another vehicle on National Highway 127 near Sonaribali. The driver fled the scene. Police intercepted the truck shortly after and brought both men in for questioning. The suspects were drunk. They lashed out during the interrogation.

The injured officers are Sub-Inspector Bikash Bora and constables Nishan Jyoti Bora, Bhaiti Inti, and Pranab Bangthai. Authorities are now handling the legal fallout. A senior officer confirmed the department's next steps: "A suo motu case has been registered against them at Samaguri police station, and an investigation is underway."
