Unidentified woman found dead in Assam paddy field

Guwahati: Residents out for a morning walk in Garaimari found a woman dead in a paddy field on Monday, October 5. The discovery in Assam’s Nagaon district triggered an immediate police response. A team from the Jajori Police Station arrived at the scene to recover the body.

Authorities have not yet identified the deceased. Officers currently hold the body as part of an active investigation into the cause and circumstances of her death. Police have not provided any details about how the woman died.

This discovery happens during the campaign for the Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election. Officials stressed that they have no evidence connecting the death to the election. A police representative stated, "Police are conducting further inquiries to identify the deceased and determine the exact cause and circumstances of her death." Investigators continue to look for leads.
