Assam Couple Found Dead After Seeking Work in Chennai

Guwahati: Nizam Uddin and his wife, Masuma Khatun, moved from Assam to Chennai a year ago to find work. They never made it back alive. The couple hailed from Chaurapara in Dhaniabheti village, located within the Nagaon district under Batadrava. Their bodies returned home in coffins instead of the parents the village expected to see. Two young children are now orphans.

Villagers smell a rat. They suspect a planned conspiracy and believe the couple was murdered. Local residents are demanding a thorough investigation to identify the killers and push for strict legal action. The community is deeply worried about the future of the two children left behind without any parental care.

The Nagaon district administration and Batadrava Police intervened to bring the bodies back to Assam. The transport was handled under the state government's Shraddhanjali scheme. Authorities now face mounting pressure from the village to explain the deaths. One villager stated, "The couple's deaths have triggered concern among villagers, who suspect that they may have been murdered as part of a planned conspiracy."
