Guwahati: Bengaluru police caught three men from Assam for an IED blast that rocked an under-construction site on Jermaiah Road on October 20. The explosion injured two workers. Investigators claim the plot targeted the cousin of the main suspect, 20-year-old Bhurhan Ahmad Burbhuiyya, due to a family and land dispute. Burbhuiyya allegedly built the bomb with locally bought parts and hid it in a parcel.

He planned for his cousin to pick up the package from a local shop. Things went wrong. Worker Allauddin opened the parcel on the building's fifth floor. The blast sent two workers from Assam to the hospital. Police say the dispute involved money and the cancellation of Burbhuiyya's sister's marriage. Burbhuiyya, a welder from Hailakandi district, worked in Maski.

Sajidull Lashkar, 22, acted as a conspirator. He worked at a Bytwo Coffee outlet in Malleswaram and provided shelter to his childhood friend. The third suspect was nabbed in Maski. The trio kept in touch via a WhatsApp group. Police checked over 1,500 CCTV cameras and spoke to more than 100 people. Ten special teams worked for 72 hours to close the net. Police said, "Interrogation of all three accused is continuing as police investigate the alleged conspiracy, the intended target and the circumstances surrounding the blast." The accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
