Itanagar: Tensions boiled over near Hollongi on Monday evening, October 26. Gorkha community members blocked roads along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border to demand the arrest of Kenba Kami. The 42-year-old suspect remains on the run. He allegedly fled into a local tea garden after a violent confrontation at his wife's residence in Gohpur.
Kami, a resident of Aalo in the West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh, arrived at the home to retrieve his wife. An argument broke out. He allegedly killed his wife's younger brother with a country-made pistol and used a machete to critically wound another man, also believed to be a brother-in-law. The wounded man now heads to a hospital in Dibrugarh for advanced medical care.
Police reports on the timing of the attack conflict, with some sources pointing to 6 pm and others to 7:15 pm. Papum Pare Superintendent of Police Taru Gusar confirmed that law enforcement from both states are working together to find the suspect. "Police had launched a manhunt to trace and arrest the accused," Gusar stated. Gohpur Police Station registered a formal case. Investigators continue to process the scene while the border protest sustains high pressure on local authorities.
