Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh officials sent a trial shipment of kiwi to Dubai on October 26. This move pushes the state into the international produce market. Agriculture and Allied Minister Gabriel D. Wangsu and Tezu MLA Dr. Mohesh Chai oversaw the event. The boxes represent a new phase for local growers.

This effort operates under the Unique Selling Proposition of the Arunachal Kiwi Project. The Union Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region backs the work. State agencies are teaming up with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research and the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority. They want to sell more horticultural goods abroad.

The state government promotes the project with the slogan, "From the Farm of Arunachal to the Global Market." Officials hope this brings cash directly to rural farmers. They want to prop up the state economy through exports. The government has not released the total weight, monetary value, or dates for future shipments yet.
