Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh is rolling out a new Farmer ID system. Agriculture Minister Gabriel D. Wangsu launched the project at a camp in Roing, Lower Dibang Valley, this Monday. The program operates under the national AgriStack framework to build a verified database of the state's farmers.
It covers six districts right now. These are Tawang, Pakke Kessang, Lower Subansiri, East Siang, Lower Dibang Valley, and Namsai. Officials plan to expand the system to the other 21 districts once they review the pilot results. Wangsu called the move a major shift for the state. He noted, "The initiative goes beyond simply providing farmers with a digital identity."
The system tracks where farmers work and what crops they grow. It also tracks the specific aid they need. Wangsu insists this is not a land ownership document. It will not grant legal rights to any plot of land. Instead, the ID serves as a verified record to help farmers get government benefits and services. The minister asked for full cooperation as surveyors begin mapping farms and collecting data.

Wangsu emphasized that data security and transparency drive the effort. He specifically called on gaon burahs and public representatives to help oversee the rollout alongside agricultural officials.
He described the project as one of the largest exercises of its kind in the country, aimed at building a comprehensive agricultural information system.
