Itanagar: The Indian Army debunked a digitally altered video spreading across social media. The clip falsely claims China captured the Arunachal Pradesh areas of Asaphila, Longju, and Taksing Circle. It also alleges that the military has been denied essential supplies. These claims are entirely false.

The footage relies on synthetic-generated information to falsely attribute remarks to Lt Gen Girish Kalia. The Army confirmed the video actually shows a press briefing delivered by then Maj Gen Girish Kalia in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir, on October 27, 2023. At that time, the officer addressed infiltration attempts across the Line of Control. During that briefing, Maj Gen Kalia noted that security forces foiled 10 infiltration attempts, killed 27 terrorists, and seized various narcotics and warlike stores.

The Army slammed the manipulation tactics. It stated, "The footage had been digitally manipulated using synthetic-generated information to falsely attribute statements to Lt Gen Kalia." Officials urged the public to stay alert. Check sources before believing military reports online.
