Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu declared border residents the first line of strength on Tuesday, August 11. He pushed for prioritizing the welfare and security of these frontier communities. This meeting followed persistent allegations from the Nah Welfare Society regarding Chinese People's Liberation Army movements near the Taksing sector. The society claimed troops advanced near Yaja and Togo villages, moving within 16 kilometers of local settlements.
The Indian Army rejected these claims as incorrect and without basis. They maintain a firm grip on the frontier. The Nah Welfare Society previously alleged in June that Chinese forces built roads, bridges, and camps near Taksing, Oying, Paniar, Marpan, Potrang, and Tindingtang. These areas were traditionally used by locals for hunting and grazing.
Khandu previously committed to verifying these reports by consulting the Army and local residents. "Our border communities are our first line of strength. Their security, welfare and development must come first," the Chief Minister stated. Meanwhile, the People's Party of Arunachal released a report calling the alleged incursions inexplicable yet irrefutable. Khandu focused his latest discussion with the Mra Welfare Society on improving infrastructure and connectivity to bolster the region.
