IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert for Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar: The India Meteorological Department issued a weather warning for Arunachal Pradesh. Heavy rain and thunderstorms will hit the state beginning Wednesday, August 19. The weather is expected to remain unsettled through Thursday.

Forecasters placed districts across the western, central, and eastern regions under watch. Impacted areas include Tawang, West Kameng, East Kameng, Papum Pare, Lower Subansiri, Upper Subansiri, East Siang, Lower Dibang Valley, Lohit, Anjaw, Namsai, Changlang, Tirap, and Longding. Isolated heavy rainfall is likely in several zones.

The agency warned that residents must stay alert. The rain brings risks. Expect temporary waterlogging and reduced visibility. The weather may cause disruptions in road connectivity, particularly in vulnerable and hilly areas.

The agency stated, "Residents in the affected areas have been advised to remain alert as heavy rainfall may lead to temporary waterlogging, reduced visibility and disruptions in road connectivity, particularly in vulnerable and hilly areas."
