IMD Predicts Heavy Rain for Nagaland and Northeast

Kohima: Nagaland faces a wet week. The India Meteorological Department expects scattered rainfall across the state from November 9 through November 13. Forecasters flagged November 11 as a high-risk date for heavy precipitation, defined as 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain in a single day.

The soggy weather pattern will reach into Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. These three states share the same November 9 to 13 window for scattered rain and the November 11 heavy rainfall alert. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya will also see sporadic showers between November 9 and 12.

Wider weather shifts impact the rest of the nation. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands expect widespread rainfall from November 8 to 14, with heavy bursts possible between November 9 and 13. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal will deal with isolated heavy rain through November 10. A fresh western disturbance hits the north-western Himalayas starting November 10.

State authorities warned residents to track shifting conditions closely. The agency stated that heavy rain may lead to "localised landslides, mudslides, waterlogging and flooding in low-lying areas, besides disrupting road traffic and reducing visibility." Drivers and residents should prepare for delays as the storms move across the region.
