Kohima: The India Meteorological Department issued a severe weather alert for Nagaland and the wider Northeast region. Rain will hit the area from July 27 through July 31. Expect widespread storms. The weather service expects heavy to very heavy downpours throughout the week.
Nagaland faces isolated thunderstorms and lightning between July 27 and July 30. Meteorologists project isolated heavy rainfall for July 27, 28, and 31. Conditions will worsen on July 29 and 30, with forecasters calling for isolated very heavy rainfall during those two days.
Neighboring states face similar threats. Assam and Meghalaya will see widespread rain from July 27 to 31, including heavy bursts on July 27, 28, 30, and 31. July 29 will bring isolated very heavy rain to those states. "Isolated thunderstorms and lightning are likely over Nagaland from July 27 to 30," the IMD stated in its advisory.
Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura expect rain from July 26 to 31. Those states will also see thunderstorms through July 30. Heavy rain will track across these areas on July 27, 28, and 31, while July 29 and 30 will bring isolated very heavy falls. August 1 brings a slight reprieve with scattered rain expected.
Arunachal Pradesh remains in the path of the storm. It faces isolated heavy rainfall from July 27 to 31. The state will see lighter rain patterns on July 27, 28, and from July 31 to August 1, with widespread activity hitting on July 29 and 30.
