Agartala: The Southwest Monsoon officially pulled out of Tripura on October 15, 2026. The exit arrived right on schedule. The Meteorological Centre in Agartala confirmed the shift as dry weather took hold across the region.

State rainfall numbers missed the mark this year. Tripura logged 1,160.1 mm of rain, falling short of the 1,391.1 mm average. That is a 17 percent deficit. West Tripura saw the heaviest hit during the season, recording a peak daily rainfall of 229.2 mm. Dry conditions dominated the 24 hours leading up to the official announcement, marking the transition into the post-monsoon period.

Last year, the monsoon retreated on October 14, 2025. Officials note the timing is consistent with long-term patterns. Dry weather will likely hold steady in the coming days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) advised residents to track future reports for sudden shifts. The agency noted that while the Southwest Monsoon ends, "the northeast monsoon rains had commenced over the southern parts of the country, bringing widespread showers to Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka." Those southern rains typically run until December.
