Kohima: Nagaland faces a soaking. The India Meteorological Department expects widespread rain across the state from July 23 to 24. An upper air cyclonic circulation currently sits over northeast Assam and its neighborhood, driving the unstable weather patterns. The monsoon is active. Expect heavy moisture across the northeast region for the next three to four days.
Mokokchung is in the direct line of fire. Forecasters predict heavy to very heavy rainfall between 12 and 20 centimeters within a 24-hour window on July 23. Other districts will not escape the deluge. Phek, Wokha, Kiphire, Tuensang, and Longleng districts face heavy rainfall totals ranging from 7 to 11 centimeters during the same period. The Meteorological Centre in Kohima remains on alert as the system shifts.
