Kohima: The India Meteorological Department expects scattered rain across the North East for the next four to five days. Widespread showers will soak Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura between July 28 and July 31. Rain will stay isolated to scattered in those same states from August 1 through August 3.
The meteorological centre in Kohima issued a specific alert for July 29, 2026. Heavy to very heavy rainfall, measuring 12 to 20 centimeters within 24 hours, will hit Kohima and Phek. Zunheboto, Mon, Longleng, Mokokchung, Peren, Dimapur, Wokha, and Tuensang face heavy rain of 7 to 11 centimeters.
According to the official weather bulletin, "isolated to scattered rainfall was likely over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during August 1-3." Residents should prepare for rising water levels and potential travel disruptions.
