Conditions shift on August 31. The orange alert moves to cover Kohima, Phek, and Kiphire. Peren and Dimapur will face heavy rainfall under a yellow alert. All other districts stay under a yellow watch. These forecasts hold valid until 8:30 am the following day.
Weather officials warn of serious hazards. Intense rain could trigger flash floods, landslides, and mudslides. Visibility will drop. Traffic will stall. Trees might fall, power grids could fail, and flimsy structures face damage. The Meteorological Centre Kohima stated, "People have been advised to follow traffic advisories, avoid vulnerable structures and take shelter during thunderstorms and lightning."
Stay out of the fields during storms. The IMD in New Delhi predicts rain across North-East states through September 5. Expect heavy rain in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from September 1 to 5. Isolated very heavy rainfall threatens these four states through the end of August.
