Imphal: Sagolband MLA Rajkumar Imo Singh wrote to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on October 22. He wants a new security drive dubbed Operation Manipur to seize illegal weapons and bust militant networks. The state remains on edge following years of unrest and recent civilian deaths in the Nongshum Hill area. Singh insists the government must act fast to protect lives and bring back order.

The plan demands a time-bound effort from the Manipur Police and central forces to track down illegal arms. Authorities recently made arrests and recovered explosives linked to the Nongshum killings, but the MLA says the state needs more. He told the Governor that these efforts must continue through coordinated operations and swift legal action. He stated, "action against unlawful armed activities should be impartial and should not discriminate on the basis of community, identity or affiliation."

The MLA also set his sights on the Suspension of Operations pact. He is calling for authorities to strictly enforce ground rules or scrap the agreement entirely. Groups violating the deal must face consequences. Until a final decision on the agreement is made, he wants full transparency and accountability. Beyond security, Singh pushed for the rehabilitation of displaced families and the restoration of key infrastructure. He maintains that all state actions must follow due process and respect human rights to be effective.
