Kohima: Nagaland faces a wet week ahead. The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority predicts an uptick in rain and storm activity starting August 26 and running through August 29. Expect localized thunderstorms, lightning, and light to moderate rainfall across the state.
Longleng, Mokokchung, Peren, Phek, Tseminyu, Tuensang, and Wokha will see storms on August 26. The rain spreads further on August 27, hitting Longleng, Peren, Tseminyu, and Tuensang with moderate intensity. By August 28, scattered storms persist, while August 29 brings continued precipitation to Longleng, Mokokchung, Mon, Peren, Tuensang, and Zunheboto.
Peren leads the rainfall forecast with 93.83 mm expected. Mokokchung follows with 88.83 mm, and Longleng anticipates 83.98 mm. Other totals include 64.99 mm for Tuensang, 63.58 mm for Tseminyu, 58.38 mm for Wokha, 52.89 mm for Phek, 51.53 mm for Mon, 51.51 mm for Dimapur, and 43.96 mm for Kohima.
Officials issued specific safety guidelines. The NSDMA advised the public to "avoid sheltering under isolated trees or near electric poles during thunderstorms and to exercise caution while travelling in rain and reduced visibility."
