Kohima: Nagaland faces a volatile stretch of weather. The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority issued a warning for heavy rain, lightning, and thunderstorms lasting through July 31. Residents must stay sharp.
The storm front kicks off July 28. Most districts will see localized thunderstorms and light rain. Forecasters predict moderate rainfall for Longleng, Mon, Niuland, Noklak, Peren, Tseminyu, Tuensang, Wokha, and Zunheboto. Mokokchung and Tseminyu face the brunt with expected moderate to heavy downpours at most locations.
Weather conditions intensify on July 29. Kohima expects heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated spots during thunderstorms. Meanwhile, Mon, Noklak, Peren, Tseminyu, and Zunheboto will see widespread rain. Other areas expect scattered light to moderate showers.
July 30 brings a shift in the pattern. Tuensang faces heavy to very heavy rain at isolated spots while other districts experience lighter activity. Conditions should ease on July 31. Light to moderate rain remains possible in Meluri, Mokokchung, Phek, Peren, Tseminyu, Wokha, and Zunheboto. Kiphire, Noklak, and Shamator have no active warnings for that final day.
The agency warned of risks from flash floods and waterlogging. The NSDMA release stated, "Citizens have been urged to stay updated with official forecasts and advisories."
