Kohima: The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority issued a four-day weather warning on Saturday. Expect widespread rain and thunderstorms across the state through August 5. Officials warn residents to watch for floods, waterlogging, landslides, and falling rocks in vulnerable areas.
Rain hits hard starting August 2. Longleng faces moderate to heavy intermittent rainfall. Phek expects localized thunderstorms, lightning, and light rain. Other districts, including Chümoukedima, Dimapur, Kohima, Meluri, Niuland, and Peren, should see light rain. Kiphire, Mon, Noklak, Shamator, Tseminyu, Tuensang, Wokha, and Zunheboto currently have no active warnings.
Conditions intensify on August 3. Kohima, Tseminyu, Tuensang, Wokha, and Longleng deal with thunderstorms, lightning, and light to moderate rain. Chümoukedima, Dimapur, Mokokchung, and Phek get scattered rain. August 4 brings more of the same to Kohima, Longleng, Meluri, Mokokchung, Peren, Shamator, and Wokha. Elsewhere, expect light to moderate showers.
By August 5, most districts see scattered rainfall, though Tseminyu may face moderate to heavy downpours. The authority urges caution for all drivers. Residents must monitor conditions closely.
The agency stated: "The NSDMA advised the public to remain alert for possible flooding, waterlogging, landslides, mudslides and falling rocks in vulnerable areas, especially during periods of intense rainfall and thunderstorms."
