Dimapur District Disaster Management Authority chairman Tinojongshi Chang issued a specific directive Tuesday as the threat of flooding intensifies. Officials told residents to watch for rapid rises in water levels near drains, nallahs, and culverts. The authority warned parents to keep children away from these water channels and urged everyone to stay clear of fallen trees, damaged buildings, and downed power lines during storms.

The district is pushing for better urban maintenance to handle the deluge. Authorities are ordering locals to stop dumping trash or debris into drains, as these blockages worsen waterlogging. Residents in low-lying zones should keep emergency kits packed with medicine, documents, and charged devices, and stay ready to evacuate if conditions deteriorate.
