NSDMA Issues Storm Alert for Nagaland Through July 18

Kohima: The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority warned of incoming storms. From July 15 to 18, 2026, the state faces localized thunderstorms, lightning, and rain. The Home Department agency expects the worst weather early in the week.

Light to moderate rainfall hits several districts on July 15. Longleng and Mon face moderate to heavy downpours. Officials told locals to stay alert. "Residents in these areas have been advised to remain alert and avoid unnecessary travel during adverse weather conditions."

Conditions improve slightly by July 16. Most districts will see a break in the severe weather. However, light to moderate rain will persist in Kohima, Noklak, Peren, Tseminyu, Tuensang, and Zunheboto. Noklak and Zunheboto should also expect scattered, intermittent showers.

The storm front returns on July 17. Kohima, Longleng, Mokokchung, Noklak, Phek, Shamator, Tseminyu, Tuensang, and Zunheboto are in the path of lightning and rain. The authority warned people in landslide or waterlogging zones to exercise extreme caution.

By July 18, the pattern continues. Kohima, Longleng, Mokokchung, Mon, Tseminyu, Tuensang, and Zunheboto will see more rain and storms. Kiphire, Noklak, Peren, Phek, and Shamator face lighter rainfall. The NSDMA urges citizens to monitor the SAFER Nagaland app and the official weather website for updates.
