Kohima: The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority issued a four-day weather warning on Monday. Prepare for thunderstorms and heavy rain across all districts from September 8 to 11. Mokokchung and Wokha face the highest threat. Mokokchung expects 113.74 mm of rain, with Wokha trailing at 113.14 mm.
Other regions face significant rainfall amounts as well. Longleng expects 101.82 mm, Tseminyu 94.27 mm, and Mon 78.14 mm. Tuensang, Kohima, Dimapur, and Niuland also remain under the watch. Rain persists for days. On September 8, heavy weather targets Tseminyu, Wokha, and Zunheboto. By September 11, the authority has placed Longleng, Mokokchung, Mon, and Wokha under high alert for scattered heavy rain.
Motorists must stay alert. Landslides remain a constant danger on state roads. The agency warns: "The authority has advised the public to regularly monitor updates through the Safer Nagaland mobile application and the NSDMA Weather Portal, follow official advisories, and exercise caution during thunderstorms and rainfall, while motorists have been specifically warned to be careful while travelling, especially along vulnerable and landslide-prone stretches."
