Kohima: Nagaland faces a wet week ahead. The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority issued a weather outlook on Saturday warning of increased rainfall across most districts until August 5. Expect flooding and mudslides. The agency alerted residents to potential landslides, waterlogging, and falling rocks in vulnerable spots.
On August 2, light rain hits Chümoukedima, Dimapur, Kohima, Meluri, Niuland, and Peren. Longleng faces moderate to heavy rain. Phek will see localized thunderstorms and lightning. No active warnings exist for Kiphire, Mon, Noklak, Shamator, Tseminyu, Tuensang, Wokha, or Zunheboto for that date.
Storm activity surges on August 3. Chümoukedima, Dimapur, Mokokchung, and Phek get light to moderate rain. Kohima, Tseminyu, Tuensang, Wokha, and Longleng deal with thunderstorms and lightning. Other areas catch light rain. By August 4, thunderstorms roll over Kohima, Longleng, Meluri, Mokokchung, Peren, Shamator, and Wokha. The remaining districts record scattered rain.
August 5 brings intermittent rain statewide. Tseminyu expects moderate to heavy downpours. Officials keep the pressure on safety. The NSDMA advised the public to "remain alert for possible flooding, waterlogging, landslides, mudslides and falling rocks in vulnerable areas."
