Itanagar: The People's Party of Arunachal (PPA) says Chinese forces have blocked Indian troops from reaching key patrolling points near Taksing. A four-member committee led by Kahfa Bengia visited the Upper Subansiri district on July 10. They spoke with locals in Taksing, Maza, and Galemo, along with military personnel stationed in the region.

The committee highlighted Shera 5 Point as a major flashpoint. Indian and Chinese troops clashed there in 2023. Indian forces have not returned to the site since the incident. Chinese soldiers allegedly removed Indian markers and barred access to the area. The report warned that such encroachment follows a calculated pattern. "The situation at Shera 5 Point demonstrates how small advances can eventually become established on the ground," the committee noted.

Nanga Pahar, a traditional hunting ground for the Nah and Mara communities, is also restricted. Locals can no longer enter the area to graze yaks. While the Indian Army patrols seasonally between April and October, the People's Liberation Army reportedly maintains a year-round presence. The PPA argued that the lack of winter porter support signals a thinning of Indian forces in forward areas.

The committee demanded that the Border Roads Organization accelerate the Nacho-Taksing road project. They also proposed building a 68-km road connecting Galemo and Pokorla. Further recommendations included the completion of the Taksing-Pokorla route and new Army camps at Sipi 4 and Sipi 6. Soldiers and residents alike struggle with poor power and connectivity. The report urged immediate investment in electricity and telecommunications to secure the border.
