Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on August 17, 2026. He delivered a report card tracking the state’s growth over the past ten years. The document outlines a decade of work involving infrastructure, economic expansion, and vital projects in remote border regions.

Khandu pushed for ongoing federal support to finish pending initiatives. The report credits the state for better connectivity, specifically citing more rural road networks, improved national highways, and easier access to administrative hubs. The state’s fiscal health also improved. The summary shows a climb in Gross State Domestic Product and per-capita income, paired with higher local revenue and better budget management.

Healthcare access expanded through new medical institutions. The government also prioritized the Vibrant Villages Programme and built new strategic assets along the international border. It is a major shift. The chief minister shared the update on social media, saying, “On behalf of the people of Arunachal Pradesh, called on Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah ji and presented the 10-year Progress Report of Team Arunachal, highlighting our collective journey of development and transformation.”

Shah promised that the Centre would back the frontier state to ensure long-term peace and stability. Khandu noted he remains grateful for the consistent backing from the minister regarding regional prosperity.

Khandu hit the ten year mark in office on July 16. He first took the reins in 2016 and is now serving his third consecutive term leading the state.

The push for continued federal guidance comes as the state keeps focus on its borders with China, Bhutan, and Myanmar.
