Itanagar: Chief Minister Pema Khandu led the Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet in approving a Rs 7,834 crore reform package. The investment targets infrastructure, power, jobs, and school systems. These flagship schemes run from 2026 to 2029.

Roads remain a top priority. The state earmarked Rs 2,334 crore for the second phase of the CM Comprehensive State Road Development Plan to link district and sub-divisional headquarters. Workers must finish all Phase-I projects by March 2027. Another Rs 2,000 crore will fund the CM Comprehensive State Rural Road Development Programme. This project builds all-weather roads for villages currently missing from federal coverage.

Power grids will also see an overhaul. The government set aside Rs 2,000 crore to modernize electrical systems. This effort aims to cut Aggregate Technical and Commercial losses to 18 per cent by March 2029. Education gets a boost too. The Cabinet approved Rs 1,500 crore for Phase-II of Mission Shikshit Arunachal. It follows a previous investment of Rs 3,112.5 crore.

The administration introduced several new workforce initiatives. "The Cabinet also approved a 20 per cent reservation for retired Agniveers from Arunachal Pradesh in recruitment to constabulary and equivalent posts in the police, fire services, forest department and other uniformed services." The state launched an AI-powered E-HRMS 2.0 platform and a new military school scholarship.

Economic plans are broad. The ARUN MSME Mission will assist 500 businesses every year. Meanwhile, the Arunachal Human Capital and Economic Transformation Vision 2036 targets one lakh youths for skills training, 10,000 apprenticeships, and 10,000 overseas jobs. Officials also updated industrial training institutes and trade license rules. Finally, the state cleared the Arunachal Pradesh Advocates Protection Bill, 2026, and approved six new fire stations.
