Shillong: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya held its 10th PA Sangma Memorial Lecture on Tuesday. The event took place at the NKC Auditorium to mark the 79th birth anniversary of the late Meghalaya Chief Minister and Lok Sabha Speaker. Crowds gathered to honor his long career.
Professor SK Barik of North-Eastern Hill University served as the lead speaker. USTM Vice-Chancellor Professor GD Sharma, PIMC Director Professor AC Kataki, and Principal Professor HK Sharma joined faculty and students in attendance. Barik praised the university for keeping the leader’s history alive. He stated, "The initiative provided an important platform for academic dialogue inspired by Sangma’s vision and his commitment to the development of the Northeast."
Established in 2011, the private university has turned this lecture into a yearly academic forum. The sessions focus on societal issues, education, and regional progress. It keeps Sangma’s influence in the public eye. USTM holds an 'A' grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council after a 2021 assessment. The institution continues to push for regional development through research and community involvement.
