Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu inaugurated the State Guest House-II in Itanagar on July 17. The project redeveloped the former Hotel Donyi Polo Ashok, which opened in 1982. The Itanagar Smart City Development Corporation Limited oversaw the transformation. Ganpati Construction Company of Guwahati completed the build.
The facility features 15 air-conditioned rooms and a 35-seat conference hall. It includes G+1 housing for staff and drivers. Utilities include a 250 KVA power backup and a 40,000-litre water storage tank. The site offers parking for 40 vehicles and a CCTV control room. It handles growing VVIP traffic. The guest house relieves pressure on existing government properties.
Urban Affairs Minister Balo Raja praised the repurposing of the defunct asset. ISCDCL CEO Dahey Sangno noted that limited local construction materials caused delays in other capital projects. He mentioned the G4 structure replacing a G2 building at the Naharlagun Daily Market as one such project, intended to help vendors displaced by a past fire.
Khandu celebrated the launch on social media. "Delighted to inaugurate State Guest House-II under the Itanagar Smart City Mission," the Chief Minister stated. He expects the upgrade to boost hospitality standards for state guests.
