Itanagar: Pema YK Loyi just made history. The Managing Director of Iconic Automobiles is now Chairperson of Women in FADA, the women’s wing of the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations. She is the first woman from Northeast India to hold this national post. FADA announced the move during its 63rd Annual General Meeting in New Delhi.
Loyi knows the business. She built Iconic Automobiles into a force in Arunachal Pradesh. The firm handles Mahindra and Mahindra sales and service across the state. She even launched India’s first all-women-run Mahindra showroom in Itanagar. The facility serves as a blueprint for female leadership in a male-dominated trade.
She has been busy. In 2025, Bank of Baroda named her a top woman entrepreneur from the Northeast. She also won the Woman Transforming Auto Retail (East) Award at the 9th ETAuto Retail Forum in August 2026. During the 13th FADA Auto Summit 2025, she joined a panel titled "Women in FADA – Driven by Courage" to discuss her path in the industry.
FADA represents over 15,000 dealerships across the country. It has operated as an apex body since 1964. Loyi now aims to widen the gates for other women. Regarding her new role, she said, "I would focus on strengthening women's participation across the automobile dealership ecosystem and creating greater opportunities for women to pursue leadership and entrepreneurial roles."
