Congress Leader Urges Manipur Government to Rise Above Tribal Bias

Imphal: Manipur is an active volcano. Congress Legislature Party leader Keisham Meghachandra Singh issued this warning on September 2, demanding a state government that acts as a neutral arbiter rather than a partisan player. He claims the current administration is shackled by perceptions that it aligns with specific community interests and armed group narratives.

Singh argues that partisan leadership destroys the state's credibility. When officials favor one side, administrative decisions look like attacks to the other. He proposes three strict rules to end the cycle: zero political protection for violence, no selective justice, and an absolute rejection of armed intimidation. "Manipur needs a government that stands above all armed groups and above all community interests," Singh said.

The legislator maintains that peace remains impossible if the state only manages the conflict instead of solving it. He insists that accountability must apply to every citizen, regardless of their background. True reform requires giving every victim equal access to justice, a move he says is the only way to rebuild public faith in the rule of law.
