Arunachal Club T20 Cricket Championship Kicks Off in Itanagar

Itanagar: The sixth Arunachal Club T20 Championship 2026-27 is officially underway. Action started at the AIOC ground in Jollang, Itanagar. Aalo West MLA Topin Ete served as the chief guest for the opening ceremony, while Teli Pada Camdir attended as the guest of honour. The Itanagar Cricket Club organizes the event.

Ete threw his support behind the tournament. He lauded the organizers for giving young athletes a space to sharpen their skills. "Ete welcomed the tournament and praised the organisers for providing young cricketers from Arunachal Pradesh with a platform to develop and showcase their talent." He also recognized the work of club president Advocate Suraj Tayam in building the grassroots scene.

Nine teams are competing for the title. Rosters include players from Itanagar, Nirjuli, Seppa, and Aalo. Among the squads in the mix are the Nirjuli Cricket Club and the Donyi Polo Cricket Academy. The event pushes for higher competition levels and better sportsmanship across the state. It gives local kids a chance to face off against established regional talent.

The tournament acts as a feeder for the state's cricket future. It has pushed other franchise sports to start up in the area. Youth interest in organized competition is surging throughout Arunachal Pradesh.
